AFCAT – Air Force Common Admission Test

The Indian Air Force holds the AFCAT (Air Force Common Admission Test) Exam twice a year to select candidates for Short Service Commission (SSC) in Flying Branch and Permanent Commission (PC) and Short Service Commission (SSC) in Ground Duty (Technical and Non-Technical) Branches.

The IAF also recruits applicants for the NCC Special Entry Scheme (Flying Branch) and Meteorological Entry. It is one of the most desired jobs in the Indian Air Force and the dream employment of millions of Indians.

AFCAT 2 2023 Exam Date 

Indian Air Force has released the AFCAT 2 2023 notification on 19th May. Along with the notification, details like exam date, number of vacancies, last date to apply for the exam, etc. will also be released.

AFCAT eligibility 2023 in terms of age and educational qualification are given below:

AFCAT 2 2023 Age Eligibility 

AFCAT Age Limit 2023 as on January 1, 2024

Flying Branch: Candidates must be aged 20 to 24 on July 1, 2024. Candidates with a Commercial Pilot License have an upper age limit of 26 years.

 Ground Duty (Technical & Non-Technical) Branch:  The age of candidates should be between 20 and 26 years.

 Eligibility in terms of Educational Qualification as per AFCAT 2 2023 Notification

AFCAT Educational Qualification 2023

The educational requirements for AFCAT 2023 are shown below, by branch.

Flying BranchCandidates must have completed Class 12 with a minimum of 60% in Maths and Physics. They must also have a graduate degree in any discipline/BE/BTech/cleared section A and B test of Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers (India) or Aeronautical Society of India from an accredited university with an absolute minimum of 60% marks.
Ground Duty Technical BranchAeronautical Engineer (Electronics)
Passed Class 12 with 60% in Physics and Mathematics, and has a four-year degree in Engineering/Technology.
Or,
Sections A and B of the Associate Membership examination of the Institution of Engineers (India) or the Aeronautical Society of India or the Graduate membership examination of the Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers were passed by actual studies with 60% in subjects stipulated by the examination authority.
Aeronautical Engineer (Mechanical)
Candidates must have a Class 12th with 60% in Physics and Mathematics and a degree/integrated post-graduate degree in Engineering/Technology.
Or,
Cleared parts A and B of the Associate Membership examination of the Institution of Engineers (India) or the Aeronautical Society of India by real study with a minimum of 60% or equivalent in specific fields defined by the IAF.
Ground Duty (Non-Technical) branchesAdministration
Graduation in any discipline with at least 60%
Or,
Passed part A&B of the Associate Membership of the Institution of Engineers (India) or the Aeronautical Society of India examination from an accredited university with 60%

Education

MBA/MCA or MA/MSc in English/Physics/Mathematics/Chemistry/Statistics/International Relations/International Studies/Defense

Studies/Psychology/Computer Science/IT/Management/Mass Communication/Journalism/Public Relations with a graduation rate of 50% or 60%.

Weapon Systems (WS) Branch

Candidates must have passed Maths and Physics at the 10+2 level with 50% marks each, and Graduation with a minimum three-year degree course in any discipline from a recognized University with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent/BE/B Tech degree (four-year course) from a recognized University with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent.

Administration & Logistics

completed 10 2 and Graduate Degree (Minimum three years degree course) in any discipline from a recognized university with at least 60% marks or equivalent, or cleared section A & B examination of Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers (India) or Aeronautical Society of India from a recognized university with at least 60% marks or equivalent.

Accounts Branch

Passed 10+2 and graduated from a recognised university with 60% or higher in any of the following fields:
• Bachelor of Commerce (minimum three-year course)
• Bachelor of Business Administration (with a finance specialization)/ Bachelor of Management Studies (with a finance specialization)/ Bachelor of Business Studies (with a finance specialization)
• CA/ CMA/ CS/ CFA qualified
• Bachelor of Science in Finance

Meterology

Passed 10+2 and B Sc with Physics and Mathematics with at least 60% marks or equivalent, or four-year Graduation in Engineering/Technology discipline with at least 60% marks

AFCAT 2023 Eligibility for Women Candidates

Except for the physical requirements, AFCAT eligibility for girls remains the same. Female applicants must have received at least 60% in Maths and Physics in Class 12 and 60% in graduation. The minimum height is 162.5 cm. The AFCAT age range for the Flying Branch is 20 to 24 years. Only individuals born between 02 July 2000 and 01 July 2004 are eligible to take the exam. There is a two-year relaxation for candidates who hold a valid and current DGCA Commercial Pilot License. The AFCAT age limit for the Ground Duty Technical and Non-Technical Branch is 20 to 26 years, with no exceptions for any candidate. Candidates born between July 2, 1998, and July 1, 2004, are eligible to apply for these positions.

AFCAT Exam Pattern 2023

The AFCAT exam is broken into two parts: an online examination and an AFSB interview. Candidates who choose the Ground Duty (Technical) branch must take the Engineering Knowledge Test (EKT). The exam is given in English. The AFCAT exam contains 100 questions in total. Candidates have two hours to complete the AFCAT paper. The AFCAT test paper includes questions from General Awareness, Verbal Ability in English, Numerical Ability, Military Reasoning, and Aptitude. AFCAT is worth 300 marks in total. Candidates receive three marks for accurate answers and one mark is subtracted for incorrect responses. The AFSB interview is divided into stages. Officer Intelligence Rating Test, Picture Perception Test, and Discussion Test are all part of Stage one. The second stage consists of a psychological test, group tests, and an interview. Candidates for the flying branch must take the Computerized Pilot Selection System (CPSS).

Applicants for the Indian Air Force must apply online for the AFCAT 2 2023 exam at https://careerindianairforce.cdac.in or https://afcat.cdac.in. Aadhaar Card is required for online registration.

AFCAT 2 2023 Application Fee

The fee of undertaking the AFCAT 2 2023 Entry Exam. The Rs. 250/- (non-refundable) exam cost for AFCAT admission (not applicable for NCC special entry and meteorological entry) can be paid online after completing the online application form via the “Make Payment” step on the main menu of the online application. The exam cost will not be payable in cash, cheque or demand draught (DD). You can pay the exam fee using a credit card, a debit card, or your bank account using the payment portal.

Applicants are instructed to follow the steps or instructions on the payment gateway, as well as to print or save the transaction details for their own records. After the bank confirms receipt of the money, the “Payment Status” will display the “Registration Number,” which the candidate should note down for future communication. Simultaneously, the candidate will receive a confirmation e-mail or text message. The admit card with the hall ticket number will be sent to the candidate’s registered email address and can also be retrieved from the candidate’s registered email address.
