Indian Air Force Selection Process through NDA after 12th

The only route to an officer position in the Indian Air Force beyond the 12th grade is through the NDA exam. The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) is in charge of recruiting single males and females into the Army, Navy, and Air Force. NDA Exam One and NDA Exam Two are held twice annually, primarily between the months of April and November. Each January, the application form is released. 

The NDA clearance process involves two steps:

Written test:

The written test is the initial stage of the hiring process. It is a 900-point test with two sections: a maths component and a general ability section.

To pass the UPSC NDA exam, candidates must receive at least 25% of the available points in each subject or area. Depending on the branch of the Indian armed services they want to join, applicants who pass the UPSC NDA exam cutoff will be sent a call letter for the SSB (Service Selection Board) interview or SSB evaluation process.

The general knowledge section is part of the general ability test. The UPSC NDA exam uses minus marking. Incorrect responses to questions in the General Ability Test Section of the UPSC NDA will result in a deduction of 1.33 marks, while incorrect responses to questions in the Math Section will result in a deduction of 0.83 marks.

Service Selection Board(SSB):

Applicants applying for the flying entry in particular must pass the Computerized Pilot Selection Test (CPST) or the Pilot Aptitude Test (PABT) (CPSS) or both depending on the board.

After passing the written test and getting Recommended by SSB, candidates have to go through the medical examination in order to be recruited into the Indian Air Force.

Agniveer Vayu Benefits

  • Agniveers will be entitled to medical care at Service Hospitals for the duration of their engagement tenure in the IAF, as well as CSD benefits.
  • Agniveers will be qualified to receive the “Seva Nidhi” package at the end of the four-year engagement period, which will include their contribution (to the Agniveer Corpus Fund), a matching contribution from the government, and interest on the accumulated sum.
